As I finished Psalm 122, it brings to mind that God does appoint so much in our lives. As we studied we know that He puts us exactly where He wants us so that we can fulfill His purpose there. I can state from experience that God does exactly that. We were in a situation that He basically removed us from to a better experience. Without that difficult situation coming into our lives, I know we would not have made the move on our own. Therefore we can see that God uses difficult times in our lives to better us and place us where He desires. It then comes to mind that we need to evaluate why we are where we are, how we can be used for God's purpose and our willingness to do so. Scripture states that we should pray for the peace of Jerusalem and that those who love it will prosper. I think it also means that we should pray for our cities, our communities for peace. Who knows what changes this study will bring about in my life and your lives. It also reminds us that we need to be together loving , encouraging and edifying each other. I am so grateful for the many church family members who do that for me. We are told not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together. We can be stronger together, learn from each other and grown spiritually. As the Psalmist said, I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord!!!

  1. I was inspired too in talking and studying about the "peace of jerusalem" how yes, we need to pray for physical peace... but the parallel in Jesus being peace, and how if that could be a prayer too for Jerusalem and our own cities to accept Jesus as their Peace and Savior.

  2. Almost 23 years ago 1st Baptist Reynolds had vacation bible school going on the week we moved to Reynolds. Tara was 6 and Kristin was 4 years old. Martha Bryan walked them to Bible school and home (across the street from the church). James Lashley, Wilmur Reddish, and Don Bond came to the house on that Thursday evening and invited us (talked to Lane) to the parents program that would be held Sunday night with a social following. Then we were invited to Sunday School and church service the following Sunday. We have been there ever since. My husband recieved Christ, was baptised and became a deacon. We were so blessed to be told to (in so many words) "Let us go to the house of the Lord!" The house of the Lord is not a building it is the heart of His people. I believe the last verse can be interpreted as: For the sake of the house Of the Lord our God (God's dwelling place-our hearts, collectively and individually) I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem (God's people). I know that as we have attended, supported, prayed for, and participated in our church that we have prospered. God blessed us with so many friends that came to our aid through the years, financially, spiritually, prayerfully, visits, cards, food, calls. Transportation to doctors and dialysis. The list is too endless for me to recite. We have been mightily blessed and prospered with riches that will not be burned up but are eternal! I pray the peace that passes all understanding on all of God's people!
